Paul Ryan: Good or Bad for you?

August 13, 2012

It has been two days since Mitt Romney has revealed his choice for Vice-President to the world. Saturday morning, Romney took the stage in Virginia, where he announced Paul Ryan as his running mate. Immediately, two different views of Ryan began to surface. Will Ryan help or hurt Romney?

Ryan has endured great criticism on his draft of a budget. As the chairman of the House Budget Committee, Ryan has laid out a plan that undoubtedly benefits the wealthy. The budget drafted by Ryan dramatically cuts grants for college students, cuts aid to senior citizens, and provides a tax cut to the nation’s wealthiest citizens. On top of his budget ideas, Ryan is against abortion rights for women and has worked to speed up the process of purchasing a gun. This selection has given the Obama campaign quite a bit of ammunition.  Some critics have even gone as far as saying that Ryan is another Sarah Palin.

Prior to Ryan being selected, many republicans doubted Mitt Romney was conservative enough. With Ryan on the ticket, Romney will be able to silence many of those comments.  The Ryan addition also turns the focus away from Mitt Romney’s involvement with Bain Capital, and his unreleased tax returns.
