Photo courtesy of Businessweek.com Susan Rice is back, but this time for a different reason. You may remember her name from the wake of the Benghazi attack or her consideration to replace Hillary Clinton for Secretary of State.  This time, the President has tapped her for a different position- National Security Adviser (once held by Condoleezza Rice). Susan Rice has become a household name since her public interviews after the Benghazi attack. Although some officials felt she misled the American people on what exactly happened in Benghazi, others have found her assertive and take-charge...

March 13, 2012

It was just a few months ago when President Obama made a public statement calling for 33,000 troops to be withdrawn by the end of 2012. It seems that this time frame is still expected to stay in place, even after the recent slaughter in Afghanistan. Sunday, March 11, 2012, a U.S. soldier murdered 16 Afghan civilians, inclusive of women and children. Reports have confirmed these actions were of a renegade soldier. President Barack Obama immediately contacted Afghan President Hamid Karzai to extend his condolences and offer support for the bereaved families. It is imperative that the United...

The Iraq War is over, the troops are coming home, but now a new war has been waged. The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) is a $662 billion bill being pushed by Congress. This bill allows for the military to take in custody any person suspected of or linked to al-Qaida. This bill has several provisions: - It targets financial institutions that engage in petroleum business with Iran by preventing them from hosting operations in the U.S. This forces businesses to choose between doing business with United States or Iran. - Freezes about $700 million of money used to aid Pakistan,...

10 years ago today, we saw the world pause as the nation underwent a great crime against humanity. Televisions displayed the collapsing of two grand towers in New York and played the screeching sounds of thousands of American nearby the destruction. 110 stories in each building, easily made The World Trade Center the tallest buildings in the Nation as well as a target for terrorism. September 11, 2001 will forever be known as a moment that defined American history; we use today to honor the lives of the soldiers and the workers present at the World Trade Center. Every individual in that...

The 1970 awarding winning hit by Edwin Star has long been the mantra for many American's..."War - what is it good for absolutely nothing!" Though the statement is highly debatable because at times of massive danger and terrorism such as the September 11th attacks, the automatic assumption was that we would go to war to get the enemy who had killed so many innocent American lives. Now 10 years later, we have killed the "enemy" Osama Bin Laden and spent hundreds of millions of dollars while in pursuit. Many Americans are awaiting the word that there sons and daughters that are serving will return...

For centuries the United States has been known globally to be a military powerhouse and a trendsetting nation. Though in recent years we have fallen behind economically to countries like China and India we continue to maintain our "top spot" where the military is concerned.  Only 6 months into the year and 2011 has been a time of revolution, with protests in Egypt and also government revolts in Libya. With each of these conflicts the issue surrounding the extent of our (U.S.) assistance becomes a great issue. The United States is a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) a military...
