The New Black Face of the GOP

Despite Hurricane Issac, the alarming gathering that is the Republican National Convention is underway and they are bringing out some new faces. While most media outlets are reporting that “Mitt Romney is Officially the Nominee” (Ehhh duh no brainer), we felt it interesting and important to showcase the new black face of the GOP.

Last year it was Herman Cain and this year the GOP/Tea Party is fulfilling their diversity requirement by giving 36 year old Sarasota Springs, Utah Mayor Mia Love 15 minutes of fame. Love is a wife, mother of 3, of Haitian descent and member of the Mormon faith (wonder if she attends church with Mitt Romney?) She is running for Utah’s 4th Congressional District against Democratic incumbent Jim Matheson.

She bases her platform in accordance with traditional conservative views; pro-life, limited government and extremely conservative spending. During her few minutes in the spotlight she did what any politician would do, take shots at the person in the #1 spot, President Obama. Love called the President’s policies disatrous and claimed that he has a “divided vision” for the nation. In an effort to win some delegates and voters hearts, she told a story during her convention speech about when her father dropped her off at colleg and told her that neither of her parents took handouts, so she wouldn’t and that she wouldn’t be a burden to society. Kudos to Mia Love for helping to make her Tea Party friends aware that not all black people want a handout, at least she’s indirectly uplifting the black race.

Do you think she has shot? What are your thoughts on Black Republicans? Spill the beans below…
