October 3, 2011

President Obama is calling on members of Congress to pass the $447 Billion dollar Jobs Bill that he proposed to a joint session three weeks ago. At the beginning of a cabinet meeting Monday October 3rd, the President stated that he expects a vote this month and is ready to sign this bill into law.

The synposis of the plan includes extending unemployment benefits for individuals who are still without work, providing tax incentives to buisnesses who begin to hire more, dispersing money to state and local governments to go get teachers, policemen and etc back to work. The President hopes to finance this plan by incorporating the #BuffettRule (increasing taxes on wealthier Americans) and closing other corporate tax loopholes.

In an attempt to exercise fairness and decency President Obama also asked that right-wing conservatives state their claim against the parts of the bill they did not agree with so those issues can be addressed and the bill can proceed.

It would seem that this plan would be a no-brainer for Congress to pass, especially because it focuses on the most pressing issue to many Americans- JOBS!!! The unfortunate truth is that as logically sound as this may be there will be some members (mainly the tea-party) who will attempt to block the bill and advance their anti-Obama agenda.

I know you maybe wondering what can we do to stop that from happening and I’m glad you asked! This is an occasion when you need to pick up the phone and call your representatives or send an email or fax and tell them to vote YES to the JOBS BILL. It’s just that simple.

If you have no clue who your representatives is- thats where we come in. Grab some mail, get your FULL address, click the find your representatives tab and take down your reps information. Once you’ve done it be sure to spill the beans and share your experience below.

Holding our representatives accountable is our responsibility- get active and be the change you want to see!
