Rape Is A Non-Factor for Republican Abortion Views

Election season is in full swing and candidates are making their stance on the HOT issues known. Any smart politician is going to identify with his party’s platform and/or constituency base if he really wants to win. Taking a breather from the Obama vs. Romney war, we have scaled to the U.S. Senate race in Missouri that is all over national media circuits today.

Repulican Congressman and now Senate candidate Todd Akin who is running against current Senator Claire McCaskill, made some pretty idiotic comments over the weekend regarding abortion laws and a womans right to choose. In an interview he stated “First of all, from what I understand from doctors, pregnancy from rape is really rare. If it’s legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.”

Ok so I hope the quote you just read has your jaw hitting the floor and your brain thinking is this man serious? Abortion is an extraordinarily sensitive subject and no matter what your party affliation you are entitled to your own view but when it comes to the very touchy topics like abortion after rape, there needs to be some type of empathy for those women. The female body does a number of miraculous works but to say that it should just “TRY” to shut it self down in that instant is just plain stupid. The crazy part about it all is that Rep. Atkins is an ordained minister?!? {Talk about an oxymoron}

Nevertheless, his view is his own and he is entitled to it but having a person with this type of disdain towards women represent the state of Missouri would surely be sad. I hope the women and people there are listening with a close ear. This is a prime example of why the Presidential election is not the only important race going on.

Check the clip from his interview below then Spill the Beans with your comments….
