Overnight, #StopKony became a trending topic on twitter. After an attention-grabbing video went viral, people all over began to post #StopKnoy and #Kony2012.
What is Kony 2012?
Joseph Kony is the leader of Lord’s Resistance Army, an organization in central Africa that has been accused of killings, rapes, and several abductions. The video featured below displays some of the abuses of the leader.
October 2011, President Obama publicized that troops would be sent to Central Africa in an effort to advise those fighting in opposition of Lord’s Resistance Army. Currently, Joseph Kony still reigns and has been accused of more deaths and crimes against the Uganda government.
The twitter campaign is seeking to raise awareness of the events taking place and who Joseph Kony is. The video is a charge for action, asking people to sign the petition to bring the children soldiers home and arrest Kony. You can sign the pledge here www.Kony2012.com
