July 23, 2012

Early Friday morning our nation became grief stricken with the news of the “Dark Knight Massacare” that took place in the wee hours of the morning at a movie theatre in Aurora, Colorado.

Over the weekend, the families, friends, and loved ones of the twelve people who were killed and also the more than 50 victims, who were hurt joined together for a candle light vigil to pay respects to the lives that were lost. President Obama took a break from campaigning to offer his condolences and pay his respects.

President Obama went to visit the surviving victims at the University of Colorado hospital, where we told them in this very difficult time “words are inadequate” but to know that they are all on the hearts and minds of every American. At the candle light vigil, Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper announced the names of each slain victim and the crowd chanted back “We Will Remember”.

24 year old James Holmes was arrested for the shooting. Media outlets report that he refuses to talk and no current updates of the exact charges that will be filed against him are not available at the moment. President Obama did not hesistate to acknowledge this tragedy as an “evil act” and our hopes are that authorities will go to every extent possible to bring forth justice.

There truly are no words to describe the pain and anguish surrounding a tragedy of this magnitude, who knew that in 2012 we would have to contemplate whether a trip to the movies is in our best safety interest? We at MyBlackCoffee would like to offer our thoughts and prayers to anyone affected by this massacre.
