After a hard fought campaign, President Obama remains stationed in the Oval Office for the next four years. Naturally, in a country with a two-party system some people oppose his leadership. The reality is President Obama is our nation’s leader and the majority of citizens believe he was the most qualified candidate for the job.

It is imperative that both Republicans and Democrats work together in this new term; it is the only way the country can reach its greatest potential. Anchor and television host, Rachel Maddow delivered some powerful on-air rhetoric the night after the election. She spoke about moving forward and how important it is for the Republican Party to accept the loss and both parties to work together.

After a well-fought and tiring campaign, President Obama was re-elected last night for a second term. The election coverage was extremely intense, and dare I say, almost as intense as Bush v. Gore. This time we had two men with two very different plans for the country.

President Obama and Governor Romney couldn’t be anymore different in their ideologies. Naturally, there was a lot on the line last night, especially for middle class families, women, and immigrants. Not to mention, the president of this term could potentially appoint multiple Supreme Court justices, which would alter the conservative to liberal proportion in the court.

President Obama won all the battleground states. At this point, the election was over. President Obama delivered an engaging speech, in which he talked about the unity of our Nation and his desire to work with Governor Romney on policy-making. Governor Romney delivered his concession speech after a much-noted delay. This delay was the result of skepticism from Romney’s team. Because CNN called the election before all votes were in, Romney’s team waited to find out if he still had a chance. Sources also revealed that Romney didn’t believe he could lose so he only had a victory speech prepared.

The election resulted in a blue Senate majority and a red House majority. The election may be over but this is when the real work begins for President Obama. Congratulations Mr. President, see you at the inauguration!

With just shy of 48 hours until Election Day the stakes are high and both camps are tense as the last push for winning the 2012 Presidential Election is made. Mainstream publications such as CNN, Politico and MSNBC give reports of a 49%-49% tie in Battleground states with 53% of women stating they plan on supporting the President.

If you subscribe to barackobama.com or any major Democratic P.A.C. website you can attest to emails stating that in the final quarter of this race President Obama was outraised, millions of dollars by the Romney campaign. Making him more heavily dependent on his machine of supporters from the middle class to use word of mouth and get out the vote. President Obama’s campaign dollars are being used to plea to his core followers whose participation in this election will truly impact the numbers. His latest commerical features Hip-Hop Mogul Jay-Z who will be performing at a rally in Columbus, Ohio today.

On Sunday the local media outlets assisted in the final leg of the election endorsing the candidate of their choice. News publication in battleground states such as Ohio, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and the North East coast. Governor Romney received a lot of support from local media in Iowa which is another intense battleground area. The Houston Chronicle endorsed Governor Romney but with Texas’ strong Republican history it’s not such a surprise. The Cleveland Plain Dealer and the Pittsburgh Gazette endorsed President Obama two critical voter populations that have been said to be the tip of the iceberg in this race.

Do people pay attention to the suggestion of their local media when making a decision at the polls? Are print and television ads still instrumental in shaping public opinion? Share your thoughts and SPILL THE BEANS… state your case on why your voting for who your voting for!!

In the home stretch of one of the most critical elections of our generation, political candidates must walk a fine line to win the hearts and votes of undecided American voters.

Earlier this week, Republican Senatorial Candidate Richard Mourdock, expressed his opinion regarding abortion during an intense final debate with Democratic Congressman Joe Donelly and Libertarian candidate Andrew Horning. Mourdock stated that pregnancies resulting from rape are “something that God intended to happen,” and then went back to clarify that he felt rape was a “horrible situation.” (Not sure if that is the moment when Mitt Romney’s people texted or tweeted FIX IT!)

Not only is Mourdock a fellow Republican but Gov. Romney fully endorsed him in national ads. (Mourdock was the only Senatorial candidate that Romney has publicly endorsed) For most of us the opinion of Mourdock doesn’t come as a shock, as it is in line with he and Gov. Romney’s Tea-Party affiliated agenda.

Topics like abortion or women’s rights, the economy and over all leadership capabilites are of great importance to on the fence voters. With over 51% of the voting population being women, this situation could potentially tip the iceberg.

Democrats all across the nation moved quickly on bringing national attention to Mourdock’s comments. President Obama used the blooper as prop in his interview with Jay Leno this week, while on an 8 state tour through battleground states. Mourdock’s most competitive partner, Joe Donelly may also capitalize on this truism by relaying the message to Indiana Voters with moderate or liberal views.

Is abortion an important topic to you? Does it affect your willingness or decision to vote?

Tuesday night things got heated in the Big Apple as round two of the Presidential Debates took place. With just twenty-one days until the election President Obama and Governor Romney went head to head in a town hall style forum, addressing the voters questions that ranged from the economy and foreign affairs to job outsourcing and beyond.

Candy Crowley served as moderator and ensured that each man got adequate time to speak and also that the FACTS were on the record. Multiple times Crowley had to bring Gov. Romney back to the question at hand, for example when asked about guns and local violence, he esacped to a tangent about the Fast & Furious operation in Mexico. Governor Romney’s aggressive style of mid-sentence cut-offs did not fly with Crowley as she made sure to run her ship as tight as possible.

Many Democrats and general Obama supporters professed their support for President Obama via social network, as his performance highlighted a more serious and engaged demeanor this time around. Standing true to the principles he has held all along (no flip-flopping this way), President Obama accepted responsiblities for shortcomings and also provided reasonable methods for improving in those and all areas. He tackled questions directly and outlined the specific policies that are either in play or will be in play to combat issues in economic matter and foreign policy.

This debate got far more in depth on a topic that directly affects a critical population: Women. President Obama was very vocal about his work signing the LillyLedbetter Act for fair pay to women in the workplace and his strides for women through the Affordable Care Act.

President Obama called Mitt Romney “A liar” at least twice and even made George Bush sound like a more appealing candidate than Mitt (Is that even possible?)

Who do you think won the debate? What issues were most important to you? Spill the beans and get a sip below…

And the winner is…

The presidential debate was nothing short of interesting. In one corner you had an aggressive Mitt Romney and in the other corner you had a cool, calm, and collected President Barack Obama. There was a great distinction between the two candidates throughout the night.

The hot topics of the evening were jobs, the economy, healthcare, and taxes. The debate opened with President Obama wishing the First lady a Happy Anniversary. The president displayed his trademark calming nature throughout the debate. Both parties went back and forward as expected, their time limits were exceeded several times. There didn’t seem to be any big standout moments for either one of the candidates.

Mitt Romney’s comment about cutting funds to PBS and Big Bird became a viral sensation for the world wide web. Critics are saying President Obama was neither aggressive nor assertive enough during the debate. Yet, most viewers can agree the debate was no “game-changer” for either candidate. In a time where independents will make this election, the candidates have to do a greater job of engaging their audience.

The majority of polls are claiming the first debate as a victory for Mitt Romney. Do you agree? Spill the beans below…

With just shy of 40 days left until the 2012 Presidential Election, the candidates are gearing up for the first Debate to take place on October 3rd.

The issues likely to be up for debate are Welfare, Foreign Policy and the Economy. Serious blows have been exchanged between both parties on each of them.  Mitt Romney’s Foreign Policy strategist are criticizing President Obama’s strategies, suggesting his schedule for bringing troops home in 2014 and claims that the Al Queda organization has been weakened are false. The Romney campaign also assert that American people feel a false sense of security due to conflicts that continue to happen overseas. {We’re not sure who their polling but there are a host of military families who would love to bring their loved ones home from a war that we never really knew why it started anyway}

On Welfare and the Economy, the Romney Campaign feels that President Obama is promoting a culture of dependency. Hmmm??? In many ways most of us (regardless of race) believe in self-help its the American way! But when you outsource all of the jobs and leave people out to dry then you might need to spend a few dollars in those places, all the while remembering that this is America and many of us believe the contrary- we pull ourselves up by the boot straps!

No matter which side of the issue you take specifically, you must keep in mind that over the past four years, decisions were made with gridlock in Congress that we can’t be totally sure is over. The people we vote in alongside the the President will determine whether things take a significant turn for the better in eyes of the American people.

The Debates are sure to an eye opener and each candidates last effort to show us what they got! Spill the beans with your stance on the issues…

I do not think Mitt Romney could ask for a worst issue to deal with right now. After constantly being brigaded as the “out of touch” and “elitist” presidential nominee, Romney has made this accusation even harder to deny.

Romney hosted a closed-door fundraiser, which was secretly recorded and leaked to the press. The audio on the tape has Romney making several eyebrow-raising comments. Romney explains how he will win the election by not even focusing on the 47% of immoveable Obama supporters. He details this 47% of the population as Americans that “believe they are victims.” He goes on to say, “I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.” We all knew Romney may have felt this way, but to hear his voice saying, “My job is not to worry about those people,” is still shocking.

As if the audio could not get any worse, Romney makes a joke that he would be more likely to win the election if he was Hispanic. It’s hard to believe this is an actual audio from a presidential candidate and not a SNL skit, but unfortunately, it is. After this tragedy, it is going to be hard for Romney to convince people he doesn’t still own that silver spoon.

Could this be the downfall of Mitt Romney? Check out the video below:

It is the aftermath of both the Republican National Convention and the Democratic National Convention. The conventions were highlighted by great speeches, celebrity appearances, and conversations with ghosts. Nonetheless, new polls have been released showing President Obama is the favorite for this upcoming election.

It was predicted; this race between Mitt Romney and President Obama would remain neck and neck until Election Day. We are currently witnessing a divide being made between the two. What’s the reason for this?

The conventions undoubtedly, gave both candidates an opportunity to rally their base and pull in a few independent voters. It was their moment to address the pressing questions of citizens and the overarching question, “Why should I vote for you?” Some polls show President Obama is expected to do a greater job with the economy within the next 4 years.

Who caused Romney’s dip in the polls? Recently, Romney has made some blunders in the press but more importantly, the convention failed to gain the momentum and support he desired. The campaign most likely expected to ride on this excitement, right into the first presidential debate.

What are you thoughts? Are the polls a reflection of an unsuccessful convention or just a boost in membership for the Democratic Party?

We all knew she played for “the other team” but most people would’ve assumed that when that phrase was mentioned in the same sentence as Nicki Minaj, it would relate to her bi-sexual orientation not her political affiliation.

Nicki’s rap mentor and boss Lil Wayne dropped his highly-anticipated Dedication 4 and instead of discussion of Wayne’s metaphors, the whole internet is buzzing about Nicki’s lyrics on the Mercy remix, which is she and Wayne’s rendition of Kanye West’s hit single Mercy.

The lyrics in question feature Nicki saying “I’m a Republican voting for Mitt Romney
You lazy b*tches is f*cking up the economy.” Puzzling right? My thoughts also. Statements like this from an Trinidad-American (immigrant), minority from Jamaica Queens (not exactly the most affluent area in America).

Now this post is no shade to whatever her political beliefs are, she’s entitled to have them but we can’t help but imagine that she will justify this statement as some type of rap metaphor and ummm that just won’t fly. Artists are paid millions of dollars not just to publish albums but essentially to be an influential figure in American and global culture. Nicki is no exception, just take a walk down the block in any urban neighborhood and your bound to see a colored wig, inflated butts or a barbie chain. Needless to say her influence is apparent to the seemingly weaker minds, who get educated off of sound bites, who will not go and do any investigation on Mitt Romney and may vote for him “just caused Nicki said it.”

Some of the people (early 20′s) that I’ve discussed this particular situation seemed to be outraged that she would use those lyrics and even suggested this is a part of her M.O.E (Money Over Everything) mentality, that the GOP had to have paid her. Those are just theories but what are your thoughts, should artists “think before they publish” or is society holding them to heightened standard?

Leave your thoughts…Spill the beans below!
