The buzz around the Hill is surrounded around two topics, unemployment and payroll tax cut. In a House divided by Republicans and Democrats, it seems that a compromise has been made to address both topics. A deal has been set in motion that would: - Extend Unemployment benefits to a compromised amount of 79 weeks, depending on the state’s unemployment rate, the benefits would vary - A 2% payroll tax cut extended until the end of the year to benefit 160 million Americans, with the $100 billion cost added on to the running deficit - Financial aid for doctors who treat Medicare patients,...

Last week we informed you of the looming payroll tax cut bill that GOP members of Congress would be presenting to decide tax cut extenstions and also cuts to unemployment and medicare. Over the weekend the bill was marked up a bit, reached the Senate and a compromise was reached that would carry the tax cut provisions over until February 2012. Current GOP members of the 112th Congress have been taking the forceful approach during this term to push forward their agenda by any means necessary. They've taken pages from the history books and used fillibuster (talk a bill to death) tactics and have been extrememly uncooperative when it comes to bi-partisan efforts to solve even minor issues.
