The hottest issue in American politics today is the BUDGET; how our money gets spent. The Republicans solution seems to be spending cuts while Democrats suggest that we increase taxes on wealthier populations. Today in a speech at George Washington University, President Obama suggested a middle of the road approach over the course of the next 12 years, where we would incorporate a little of both to begin to reduce our approximately $14 trillion dollar deficit. A few key points of his plan included cuts to defense spending, ending the bush-era tax breaks to people who earn over $250,000 per year, and raising taxes (specific areas not disclosed).

If Congress agrees with President Obama and finds the middle ground to actually pass a budget for the next fiscal year; we should all give them two claps. But immediately after the conversation must change and the tough issues like job creation, education, and how we will compete in the ever changing technological world must come back on the table. If we are able to work and utilize the brain power of our people, then we can change our focus and claim the #1 spot that we once possessed.

MyBlackCoffee supporters what do you think – should the conversation on decifit reduction continue or are there more important issues at stake?
